Video Conferencing

Video conferencing like many of today's technologies is completely changing the way that we communicate. The world of communications is almost unrecognizable to how it was just 20 years ago. I don't need to point out the fact that almost everyone on the planet owns a mobile phone. This is true in the developed and in the developing world. Even with these accomplishments, communications technology continues to shuttle along at break neck speeds of progress. Video conferencing is no exception to this rule.

More and more people are using video conferencing in their homes. Whereas people used to only video conferencing while they were at work in the office, or conducting business elsewhere, video conferencing is now being done increasingly among friends.

Video phones add another level of intimacy to a phone conversation with a friend, they make communicating more 'real' than when using a traditional telephone with just voice features. Most impressive about these phones is that they are extremely portable. If you are going away on business or spending time in a second home, you can unplug your videophone and take it with you. You do not have to go through a set up process to use the phone. As long as you are in a location that has high speed Internet access and a LAN connector, your videophone will work exactly the same as it does in your home.

Through video conferencing, it is actually possible for you and a group of friends to all talk to each other at the same time using multiple phones in multiple locations, all while seeing each other at the same time. Video phones contain video screens that allow you to view the person that you are talking with. All sorts of life events cause us to move away from our hometown or from our closest friends. Whether work, marriage or another life circumstance has placed a distance between you and the special people in your life, video phones can make separated friends feel that there is no distance at all between them. One of the great benefits of having a videophone is that you no longer have to lose touch with friends. In fact, phone conversations become more interesting with a videophone because of the visual element.
